In Damascus\, the governor under Arétas the king guarded the city of the Damascenes\, willing to seize me\, and through a window I was let down in a basket by the wall\, and escaped his hands. I must boast\, though it is not expedient; but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body\, I do not know\, or whether out of the body\, I do not know; God knows—who was caught up to the third heaven. And I know that this man—whether in the body or out of the body\, I do not know; God knows—was caught up into Paradise\, and heard unspeakable words\, which no person is allowed to utter. And Thou\nsayest\, ‘Who touched Me?’” But Jesus said\, “Someone touched Me; for I perceive that power has\ngone forth from Me.” And when the woman saw that she was not hidden\, she came trembling\,\nand falling down before Him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched Him\,\nand how she had been immediately healed. And Jesus said to her\, “Daughter\, your faith has made\nyou well; go in peace.” While Jesus was still speaking\, a man from the ruler’s house came and\nsaid\, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher anymore.” But Jesus on hearing this\nanswered him\, “Do not fear; only believe\, and she shall be well.” And when Jesus came to the\nhouse\, He permitted no one to enter with Him\, except Peter and James and John\, and the father\nand mother of the child. And all were weeping and bewailing her; but Jesus said\, “Do not weep;\nfor she is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him\, knowing that she was dead. But taking\nher by the hand Jesus called\, saying\, “Child\, arise.” And her spirit returned\, and she got up at\nonce; and Jesus directed that something should be given her to eat. And her parents were amazed;\nbut He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
